If you are providing your own artwork, then here are our guidelines.
To see how your artwork will be applied to a range of van makes and models click here. If however, you would like us to help, then we would be very happy to design your advertisement, from concept through to production.
Upon placing a campaign with us you will be supplied with the Posters in Transit rear artwork template file.
This file is a millimeter accurate, production ready Adobe Illustrator document which has been specifically designed to help you manipulate your creative to suit the requirements of this bespoke application.
The file has the following layers:
Header
This contains all the instructions pertaining to exclusion areas and dimensions. This is for reference only and can be turned off if you wish.
Safe Area
This layer details the optimum area for placing your key message. As the rears of vans differ in size and shape it is essential that this Safe Area is adhered to so that we can guarantee that your message will be clearly presented.
Graphics
This is a blank layer that we would like you to use to place your final design onto. If you have prepared your design in an alternate application (InDesign, QuarkXpress e.t.c.) it would be appreciated if you could save the file as an EPS document and import it into this Graphics layer.
Bleed
This layer defines the minimum amount of bleed you should allow on your design in order to make sure that the image reaches all the way to the edges on any vehicle type.
Artwork Formats
Working with high quality artwork in the correct format ensures that we can produce the highest quality digital output. Working to these guidelines can cut production time as well as produce higher quality graphics. To ensure accurate colour output, please enclose a colour proof. Files can be received on CD, DVD or by e-mail.
Vector Images
All vector files should be created using Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand or Coreldraw and saved as an EPS file. Please supply the original file and the EPS to allow for any necessary editing. Although we have a large selection of fonts available unless you are confident that we have the font, and version, that you require all text should be converted to curves, outlines or paths. All colours should be converted to CMYK at the final stage of design.

Bitmap Images
All bitmap images should be converted to CMYK.
Image resolution at finished size should be 80-100dpi.
If you follow the above rules but find that you cannot import your image into Adobe Illustrator please contact us to discuss your options.
Once you have completed your artwork please run out a section of the images at 100% size on your desktop or inkjet printer. The quality of the image you see will be very close to the quality of the finished product. If at this stage you feel that the image is not of a high enough quality please alter your origination accordingly.
Any artwork supplied at a resolution higher than 100dpi at finished size will either incur an additional file handling charge or be returned to the client for rectification. Please feel free to supply your images at a percentage of actual size and at a proportionate resolution. e.g. artwork at 50% size should be 200 dpi resolution.
Scans and bitmap images should be saved as TIFF or JPEG files, unless clipping paths are required then use the EPS option. When saving files in EPS format leave all halftone options switched off. Files should not be saved as split DCS files as the RIP will automatically separate the files during printing. Saving a TIFF file with LZW compression may incur an additional file handling charge.
QuarkXpress Documents
All colours used in QuarkXpress or InDesign should be saved as CMYK. When using fonts in QuarkXpress or InDesign make sure that we have the screen and printer fonts required for the file. Make sure that all images imported have been updated, to avoid any unnecessary movement. All files should be created in proportion, or at finished size. QuarkXpress documents should not be less than 25% of finished size.
Supplying a Finished Job for Output
All bitmap & vector images should be saved in a folder named ‘Images’ and placed in the main job folder. The QuarkXpress or InDesign files should be saved in the root of the main folder and clearly marked as to their content. |
